BBI10                    YESTERDAY’S NEWS - CURRENT EVENT

The study of Business would not be complete without the inclusion of events from the real world.  Being a keen observer of these events will help you relate theory to practice.  You will be required to research various media (newspapers, magazines, television, etc.) and briefly present your findings with the following requirements:

Research 2-3 articles of business/economic significance during the course of the school year

They can be of two possible "flavours":

·                     national and either “micro” or “macro” in nature, e.g. “softwood lumber issues continue to hound Canadian producers” or “Dodge considers an interest rate cut to spur growth”

·                     local and “micro” in nature, e.g. “Air Canada cuts prices to all overseas flights

·                     international article dealing with a “macro” issue, e.g. “ Canada trying to talk it’s way into Iraq rebuilding”

Besides the article title, ensure your summary contains your opinion as to its business / economic significance, e.g. “Dodge is merely trying to stem a possible recession”.

The expectation is a short oral presentation, but the use of overheads, posters or other visual aids are also acceptable.  We will do one per day.  Volunteers always welcome to go first!  Good luck.
